It is tempting to begin a new year by starting big projects that will have a big marketing impact. Resist the urge. Instead, aim for small wins to kickstart your year and use those wins to build momentum for your bigger projects.
Here are 6 mini marketing projects that will help put some wind in your sails. Each should only take you 5 minutes to complete. You’ll feel energized and ready to tackle your big 2022 initiatives.
Update the Copyright date
If the footer of your website is manually crafted, be sure to update the Copyright date so that it’s 2022 instead of 2021. Do the same for your product screens. It’s not a big thing, but it does send the wrong message to visitors who happen to see it.
Update your LinkedIn headline
Take this opportunity to update and freshen up your LinkedIn headline – the short description that appears right under your name and what people see when they do a search. Your headline is one of the most viewed parts of your LinkedIn profile so it’s important to keep it up to date.
If you have the time, review the rest of your LinkedIn profile too. Is it time to change your picture or banner image? Is the description of your current role accurate?
Change the link in your email signature
If the standard email signature for your organization has not changed in a year, take the opportunity to change the links. Instead of pointing people to your homepage, why not direct them to a page with a more specific call to action?
Given healthcare’s staffing challenges, consider putting your organization’s career page into your signature.
Retire outdated marketing collateral
Use the start of the year to do a little bit of marketing housekeeping. Look at the oldest pieces in your marketing library and retire one of them.
Here are some ideas:
- Case studies that are 5 years or older
- Materials that featured quotes from executives or thought-leaders who are no longer with your organization
- Materials that were used/requested less than 10 times in the past 12 months
Update an executive bio
The start of the year is a perfect time to update the short bios of your organization’s executive team. These are the bios that get used by your PR team when pitching stories to the media and are what gets submitted for speaking opportunities at conferences.
It’s important to make sure these bios are up to date.
Write a ‘Thank you” note (or two or three…)
Thank you notes are a wonderful thing for both the person receiving one and the person writing them. It is one of my favorite things to do to start a new year. After writing 3-5 cards I always feel energized.
Now let’s go and make 2022 our best marketing year ever!
